Regions

Greece is in the eastern part of the Mediteranean sea. Greece lies south of the Balkan states, to the east of Italy and west of Turkey. To the south are Libya and Egypt. The geographical regions that we describe here are not limited to the present-day borders of Greece, but rather cover all regions that were once inhabited by Greeks, or where Hellenic customs are still alive. These regions include Cyprus, Asia Minor, parts of the Balkans and Southern Italy.
