Four of our dances waiting to take the stage at Balkan Night 2006. 

Macedonia is the northern region of Greece, bordering the Balkan states to the north. 

The dances are characterised by slow music at the start which gradually builds up to blazing fast endings.  The music, influenced by the surrounding regions, features brass instruments -- this is characteristic to the region and is not found elsewhere.  

To the west of Macedonia is Thrace. 

Raikos is a dance from the region of Macedonia. 

Leventikos (gr: Λεβέντικος) is one of the most popular dances from the town of Florina in Macedonia.  Although there are many different variants of the dance, all of them share a common basic step. Leventikos is often considered to be the Kalamatiano of Macedonia.
