BLE Featured During ArtWeek Boston

For the third season in a row, the BLE will participate in ArtWeek Boston with an event co-hosted by The Hellenic Arts Society in Worcester, MA this coming May 6th. Presented by Highland Street Foundation and produced by the Boch Center, ArtWeek is an award-winning bi-annual creative festival featuring more than 150 unique, unexpected, and creative experiences that are participatory, interactive, or offer behind-the-scenes access to artists or the creative process. Born in Boston, ArtWeek has grown so rapidly since its 2013 launch that it now serves communities throughout all of Eastern Massachusetts.

On May 6th at 7:00 p.m., Irene Savas, president of the Boston Lykeion Ellinidon, and an array of talented performers will transport audiences through the history of Greek dance from ancient times to the present. Combining commentary and demonstration, the program will share the diverse forms and distinct regional characteristics of Greek dance. Come see and appreciate the color, movement, and significance of dance in Hellenic culture!

This is an opportunity to gain new understanding and appreciation of Greek dance as an art form, as cultural history, and as a unique cultural element worthy of preserving here in the “melting pot” of America. After the presentation, there will be an opportunity for audience participation in several dances. Please visit our Events page for location and more details about this unique event.
