The History of Greek Dance

May 6, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Irene Savas, president of the Boston Lykeion Ellinidon, and an array of talented performers transport us through history of Greek dance from ancient times to the present. Combining commentary and demonstration, the program will share the diverse forms and distinct regional characteristics of Greek dance. Come see and appreciate the color, movement, and significance of dance in Hellenic culture!

This is an opportunity to gain new understanding and appreciation of Greek dance as an art form, as cultural history, and as a unique cultural element worthy of preserving here in the “melting pot” of America. After the presentation, there will be an opportunity for audience participation in several dances as well as a reception.

This event is co-hosted by The Hellenic Arts Society and is a part of ArtWeek Boston.
